A few important things to know:
Priority class registration for current PSD students will open on February 8! Registration will open to the community on February 10th. See below for more information on class selection.
Over the summer, we fit classes into just 4 days per week, so we have some combined-level classes. These allow us to offer more schedule options for families. A Level 3/4 class, for example, is suitable for dancers recommended for either Level 3 or Level 4. These are not new levels (Level 3/4 is not "in between Level 3 and Level 4" - it is a mix of dancers in both levels).
We are still offering packages for classes (this is the best way for your dancer to get the most out of their time at the studio and the best value for tuition!). Register for all of the classes in the package you want, then our team will adjust your tuition manually so you get the discounted package price.
At registration, there is a $20 deposit due per dancer. This is nonrefundable, holds your spot in classes, and will be credited back to you when summer tuition is processed.
Questions about summer registration? We're happy to help you by email, over the phone, or at the front desk!
Class Selection:
If your dancer is 1 or 2, register for My First Dance Class for class with a parent or Mini Movers if they're ready to come in to class independently!
If your dancer is currently in Mini Movers and will be 3 by July 1, enroll in Dance & Discover 1/2 and/or Hippity Hop.
If your dancer is currently in Dance & Discover 1, enroll in Dance & Discover 1/2 OR Dance & Discover 2/3 and/or Hippity Hop.
If your dancer is currently in Dance & Discover 2, enroll in Dance & Discover 1/2 OR Dance & Discover 2/3 and/or Hippity Hop.
If your dancer is currently in Dance & Discover 3, enroll in Level 1 classes (we recommend the Level 1 Core Class Package + any specialty classes)
If your dancer is in a Graded Technique class, you may want to wait to register until class recommendations and evaluations come out March 27th. Here's a tip: register for your their current level (ex: a dancer in Ballet/Tap/Jazz 1 this year should register for Ballet/Tap/Jazz 1/2, they will either be in Level 1 or 2). We will be happy to work with you to find the best class fit for your dancer if they need to make a change after evaluations are sent home!

It's time to start preparing for Recital 2026 on June 6th at the Paramount Theatre! Our Recital webpage is now LIVE! You will find everything you need to prepare you and your dancer for a successful Recital season. Check out thepointeschool.com/recital-2026 regularly for updates.
Here are new updates to the website this week:
Ticket Sales Details and Timeline - Ticket sales for Recital 2026 are ongoing! ALL ticket codes expire on May 22nd before the ticket price increases on May 23rd - be sure you purchase your complimentary tickets before then!
Quick Change Reports - If you dancer has a quick change in any of the shows in Recital 2026, those reports are posted on the Recital webpage now. (thepointeschool.com/recital-2026)
Finale Groups - See which group your dancer will be in for our Grand Finale at the end of each performance! These are important to know for the Finale Rehearsal at each Dress Rehearsal date. These groups are posted on the Recital webpage now. (thepointeschool.com/recital-2026)
Performance Day Details - All information regarding arrival times, dancer check in and out, and backstage procedures are posted in the Recital handbook now! Please read through these details so your dancer and your family are set up for a successful Recital day. (thepointeschool.com/recital-2026)
SPECIAL NOTE FOR THE 11:00 AM SHOW: The Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers Market will be running very close to the Paramount on Recital day from 7:30 AM-12:00 PM. This will cause extra congestion downtown and leave fewer parking options for dancers with families in this show. Please plan extra time into your morning to account for the increased traffic and to find parking. We recommend using the parking garages in the area and not relying on street parking, as many roads close to the Paramount will be closed for the market.

NEW: CLASSICAL TRACK
We are thrilled to introduce a new program at The Pointe School of Dance: Classical Track.
This is an audition-only ballet ensemble designed for dedicated dancers seeking advanced training and performance opportunities at prestigious ballet competitions and conventions, such as Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and/or Universal Ballet Competition (UBC).
Dancers in the Classical Track commit to an elevated level of training, including their assigned graded ballet technique class, an additional weekly ballet technique class, and ensemble rehearsals. Each dancer will also prepare and compete a classical ballet variation, with the option to perform a contemporary solo.
This track is ideal for dancers who are passionate about classical ballet and ready to pursue excellence in both technique and artistry within a focused, pre-professional environment.
