Message from Miss Vanessa:

We are off to an amazing start this year at The Pointe!  It is SO fun to see all of our students back into the swing of things and working so hard in their classes!  I am so thankful to get to know all of our families here and hope that you and your student are as excited about classes as we are.  If I haven’t met you or your dancer yet, please find me in the office sometime and introduce yourself!  We have lots of new dancers getting started in classes and I’m so thrilled to have you dancing with us.

Calendar:

October 3 – 8: Bring a Friend to Dance Week!  Dancers may invite a friend of a similar age to take a dance class with you for free this week.  Please pick up an invitation to give your friends in the office!  Your friend does need to fill out the back of the postcard & turn that in to your teacher for class.  Any friends that sign up after attending Bring a Friend Week and before October 15 will have a DOUBLE referral bonus for the current student(that means you get a $40 gift certificate to the dance shop!)

October 9 (noon): Second Auditions for the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker.  We still have a few roles to fill (several little Snowflakes (Level 1/2), a few variations (level 4+).  Rehearsals begin Saturday, October 15 and are 45 minutes per dance on Saturday for 6 weeks.  This is an incredible opportunity to dance on stage with professional dancers from one of the best ballet companies in the world!  For more information, check out www.nutcracker.com/auditions

October 10 – 15: Try It Week!  Dancers enrolled in any class may try another genre with no cost or commitment this week.  This is a great opportunity for dancers in one class to try the other styles of dance offered at their level.  Dancers who add a class after Try-It Week will only need to pay $10 for October tuition for any class that they add!

October 24 – 30: Costume Week! This week during classes, teachers will reveal the recital song and costume for each class.  Parents may want to be early for pickup if you’d like to see, too!  We will also send home pictures of costumes and recital song information to you.  PLUS, the week before Halloween, dancers may wear their Halloween costume (if they can easily dance in it) or an old dance costume to class!

October 31: Halloween – NO PM classes (9 AM Dance & Discover 1 will still meet)

November 1: Costume Fees Due – for us to organize orders and ensure that we have costumes in time for pictures in the spring, costume fees are due in full on November 1.  If you would like to pre-pay on costumes to have a smaller amount due on November 1, we can absolutely do that!  (Dance & Discover costumes are $65, Level 1-2-3 costumes are $75, and Level 4+ costumes are $85.  The costume fee includes any required tights, accessories, sales tax, and shipping for costumes).  We are not able to order costumes for any dancer with a negative account balance.  All balances must be paid in full before recital costumes are ordered.

Reminders:

We still have several Welcome Folders in the office! If your dancer didn’t pick one up during the first week of class, please have them stop by in the office to receive their packet!  This folder is full of information about our studio, policies, and a calendar for the season.

If you ordered PSD apparel from our online store, orders should be in around the first week in October.  We’ll send a message home when the orders arrive!

We have AWESOME new PSD car decals in the Dance Shop!  These are adorable and easy to apply, and won’t cause damage when removed.  They’re a white glitter die-cut vinyl of our logo and look amazing – and are only $5!

Absence Reporting:

If your dancer will miss class, we appreciate a heads up so our teachers can plan accordingly for classes.  Please use the form at the bottom of our website (in the blue bar that says “PSD Absences”) to let us know of your absence.  Dancers who miss a class may attend a similar or lessor level class of the same genre within two weeks of their absence.  Company dancers, please use the form “Company Absences” in the blue bar at the bottom.
