Discover dance, or a new style of dance during Discover Dance Days at The Pointe September 18-23, 2023!

New-to-The-Pointe families are invited to try out a class for free – with a great value offered when you register!
Currently enrolled students can try out new styles of dance in classes this week – with free trial classes and a great value offered when you add classes to your current schedule!

Visit thepointeschool.com/discover to get signed up today!  There is no cost to try new classes during Discover Dance Days, but spaces are limited.

When you register for a class that you attended during Discover Dance Days, receive a $10 boutique gift card AND 20% off the costume for your new class!  We are also DOUBLING our referral bonus, which means both the new family and referring family will each recieve a $40 boutique gift card (yes, this is in addition to the Discover Dance Days $10 bonus). Registrations must be completed by Saturday, October 8 to receive these discounts.

There are NO LIMITS to these incentives (add two classes, get $20 to the boutique, etc!) – the only limit is our class capacity.  Several classes have only a few spots open, so you’ll want to secure your spot quickly!

The school year just started, but our Nutcracker plans are well underway! Registration for you dancer to participate with their class in this year’s performance of The Nutcracker is open NOW! Sign Ups will continue through September 22nd. We are starting this process way earlier than with the Holiday Showcase in the past to give more time for dancers to learn and perfect choreography and to make sure we can get the costumes in on time. The Performance Handbook and registration form can be found on our Nutcracker webpage: thepointeschool.com/nutcracker Here is a quick reference of what you need to know:

  • All Ballet classes Level 1 and up will have the opportunity to participate in The Nutcracker. Participation in this performance is optional.
  • We will not be announcing which scenes are being assigned to which classes until after Registration closes.
  • Your registration for your dancer will include choreography, costume rental, 4 tickets to the performance, and a Nutcracker cast T-Shirt.
  • All participants must be present for the Dress Rehearsal on Friday, December 15th (evening) and both performances on December 17th (1 & 3 PM). Both of these events will be in the Linn-Mar High School Auditorium
  • If your dancer is in a Dance & Discover, Beginning, or Chance to Dance class – we will have a separate Holiday Performance opportunity available to you! Details coming soon!

The NewBo/Czech Village Halloween Parade is BACK and The Pointe School of Dance invites your dancer(s) to participate with us in the spooky, scary fun! We will be walking and dancing in the parade this year, and would love your dancers to come along!

When: Saturday, October 21st at 6:30 PM

In order to participate, you must:

  •  Be registered for Dance & Discover 3 or higher (ages 5 and up)
  • Participate in our Parade Choreography Camp (details below)

Parade Choreography Camp – Saturday, October 21st from 12:00-2:00 PM  Camp Registration – $40

To prepare for the parade, we have created a festive Choreography Camp so dancers can learn the parade routines and participate in other spooky and fun activities!

This Camp includes:

  • Learning the Halloween themed routines to be performed at the parade later that evening
  • A Halloween themed craft
  • Spooky snacks, activities, and games
  • A T-Shirt to be worn at the parade later that evening (you can dress up the T-Shirt anyway you would like!)

More specific parade details will be sent out to you at a later date (i.e. when and where to arrive, what to bring with you, where to pick up your dancer, etc)

If you are interested in participating with us in the Parade, please fill out this form by Friday, September 29th.

This will allow us enough time to order and receive all T-Shirts for participants in time for the event. If you are registering more than one dancer, please fill out a separate form for each child.

Special Notes:

* If you are in Community Team, you do notneed to fill out this form because this counts as one of your performances. You will learn these routines in your rehearsals, your T-Shirt is included, and do not need to participate in the Camp.

** If you are in Company and want to participate, you do need to fill out this form so we can order you a T-Shirt ($20). You do not need to participate in the Camp because we will teach these routines on 10/15 during your technique time.

Experience the magic of some of the most world-renowned classical ballets! We are offering a unique opportunity for your dancers to immerse themselves into the story, technique, and choreography just like a professional ballet dancer! We have clinic options appropriate for every dancer in Level 1 and up spread out throughout the year!

Clinic Dates:

  • Friday, October 20th — Giselle
  • Friday, January 12th — Coppélia
  • Friday, February 16th — Romeo and Juliet
  • Friday, May 17th — Don Quixote

Clinic Schedule (these times and prices will remain consistent throughout all dates)

  • Storytime: 4:45-5:15 PM (This portion is FREE, and available to all dancers age 6+ to learn the story behind each of these famous ballets)
  • Ballet 1/2: 5:15-5:45 PM ($12)
  • Ballet 3/4: 5:45-6:30 PM ($15)
  • Ballet 5+ (pointe shoes optional for Intermediate Pointe and up): 6:30-7:30 PM ($18)

Did you know that we offer free trial classes for new-to-The-Pointe families – and we have a sweet deal for you if you refer a friend to our program? Families can schedule a trial class easily – just have them send us an email and we’ll take care of it!

When a family you’ve referred signs up, please have them list your name in the “Where did you hear about us?” form in online registration. We will send them a $20 gift card to our boutique to help them get the gear their dancer needs for class – and as a thank you, we’ll send one to you, too! Trial classes are easy to schedule online, and are FREE for a limited time!

We’ve added another easy method of communication to get relevant information directly to families – right on your phone!

Studio Lobby & Lounge
We ask that families limit lobby visitors to one parent per child if you’ll be waiting in the lobby during class.  We also ask that families ONLY have food in the lounge, and to pick up after eating. We have wipes, paper towels, and a small broom/dustpan in the lounge so the space can stay nice and neat for the next group to use the space.

Absences

Boutique & Front Desk Hours
We’re happy to help ! We catch up on studio voicemails, emails, and are available at the front desk from 4:30-7:00 Monday through Thursday during the summer. In the school year, we are also open 9:00 AM – Noon on Saturday mornings.
